New England boasts an enormous wealth of attractions for every member of the family. From the beautiful Connecticut beaches, to the sand dunes of Cape Cod, to the rustic, rocky shores of Maine, one can swim, fish, boat, water ski, whale watch, white water raft, canoe, kayak, in short, engage in a near endless menu of water activities.
For
those more interested in fascinating and beautiful sites,
New England's history is rich in content and tradition. It's
the U. S. epicenter of places historical, cultural, botanical,
zoological and breathtaking. In Connecticut, you can see the
ships that once hunted whales in Mystic and visit one of the
oldest existing state houses in Hartford. In Maine, you can
watch peacefully as the lobster boats bob calmly in Bar Harbor
and you can climb the stairs of some of the oldest lighthouses
in the country. In Massachusetts, you can trace the ride of
Paul Revere in Concord and see the rock upon which the Pilgrims
first stood in Plymouth. In New Hampshire, you can visit the
home of Captain John Paul Jones in Plymouth or visit the quaint
and vibrant campus of Dartmouth College. In Rhode Island,
you can visit the past restored in Newport and experience
the myriad traditions of Providence. In Vermont, you can visit
majestic Mount Mansfield in Stowe and ride the steam-powered
trains in Bellows Falls.
And throughout New England, if you look around, you
just might find a plaque or two announcing, "George Washington
slept here." He visited an amazing number of inns, taverns
and buildings of old during his lifetime. And as you drive
the region's highways and back roads, you'll find historical
signs in abundance, each of which can teach you more about
our great country.
Be sure to visit our Museum Section. It will be growing all the time with museums for every member of the family including pets over time.
