CONNECTICUT CAMPGROUNDS

Not surprisingly, staying in the great outdoors is one of the more popular things to do in Connecticut and all of New England. Whether you do so in a camper, RV or tent, it's a wonderful experience and great opportunity to get back to the land. Not only that, but camping leads to a wide range of other activities that give you some wonderful breaks from the daily grind and some great exercise, such as hiking, biking, fishing, hunting and even sneaking away from the campsite for a round or two of golf.

Camping opportunities are ubiquitous. In fact, there are campgrounds, state parks, hiking trails and lots of mountains on which to commune with nature or just sleep under stars, which in the northern part of the region shine very brightly.

Campgrounds come in a wide range of flavors, sizes and varying degrees of amenities and attractions. If you're interested in the great outdoors away from the madding crowds, state parks may be your best bet. There the camping can be as wild as you'd like it to be.

CampingIf you're looking for something a wee bit less arduous or something that still has at least some of the trappings of civilization, a campground with tightly clustered campsites may be more to your liking, especially if you're social and like having neighbors close by. There are also a sizeable number of campgrounds cum recreation parks with various attractions, such as playgrounds, swimming pools, snackbars and modern amenities that offer the comforts of home for the essentials but enough wilderness to enjoy the adventure.

If you prefer taking the comforts of home with you, New England has a growing number of RV-specific campgrounds that provide all you need to get away and enjoy the countryside, but know that when you return to camp, you have a nice bed waiting for you.

There are also a great many campgrounds offering cabins and other structures that allow for a turnkey camping experience.

We've set up NewEnglandTimes.Com to help you decide where to stay in New England in as many ways as possible.
